no but imagine

bilbo realizes that dwarves do the forehead touch thing when they’re close to each other, but then thorin instead kisses him on the forehead before battle. for hobbits, that can also mean you’re very close to someone, so he assumes that’s what it meant. but thorin keeps doing it and bilbo notices fili and kili snickering in the background and eventually poor balin has to take bilbo aside and explain to him that no, thorin is actually showing romantic interest in him, and bilbo doesn’t know what to say to that except sort of stand there looking dumbfounded. dwalin comes over and says ‘just do somethin’ about it, the load of us are sick of watching you two’ so the next time thorin does the thing bilbo just grabs him and kisses him and dwalin can only stand there in shock like i had meant let him down easy and fili and kili are rolling around on the ground like idiots because i told you so, pay up everyone
